Safe and secure parking in Spanish-French border region
The project focuses on improving the availability of Safe and Secure Parking for trucks along the E-15 motorway between Barcelona and Montpellier. Over two projects, logistics centre’s parking was upgraded to the EU’s Gold-level standard for security and driver-services and extended by a total of 505 secured parking spaces.

Safer and more efficient
The Project forms part of a broader European initiative, the Global Project, which aims to address the shortage of safe and secure parking areas by building or upgrading 141 SSPAs across Europe by 2026. The activities within this Action include project management and related services, the construction of the two new sites, and the upgrading of the two existing ones.
Ultimately, the project will enhance road safety and security, ease congestion along Europe’s motorways, and provide high-quality facilities that support the well-being of professional drivers and the efficiency of freight transport across Europe.
Studies on Shannon Foynes port expansion
Two studies on expanding the Shannon Foynes port in Ireland received EU Funding. The first to assess the feasibility and calculate the cost of extending a 40 km railway connecting the port to the Irish Rail Network to enable the transfer of 84 million tonnes/km to rail and decongest the road network. The second study was a feasibility study to perform field surveys and an environmental assessment, as well as designing, modelling, and planning part of the Vision 2041 master plan of the Shannon Foynes Port Company.
